Bakken Overview
The Bakken trend is a sequence of liquids-rich sand and shale layers in the Williston Basin, which stretches across western North Dakota and into Canada. The company’s position in the Bakken development area is comprised of approximately 560,000 net acres, which include 382,000 net mineral acres and 178,000 net leasehold acres. The company focuses on unconventional tight-oil play development and production in the most prolific portion of the basin.
During 2022, net production averaged 95 MBOED. There were 43 operated wells brought online during 2022, bringing the total to more than 800 operated wells online at year-end.

Description
If you are selected as the Wells Support Lead, you will be responsible for the coordination, planning and tracking of all location construction and water resources activities for Wells operations in the Bakken area. This role will ensure that all field operations are aligned with all regulatory, health, safety, environmental, landowner agreements and organizational policies & procedures. You will also ensure water of sufficient quantity and quality is available to meet all Wells Operations needs as required.
Responsibilities may include:
- Coordinating contractor and consultant workforce to accomplish tasks as necessary
- Managing and coordinating water transfer/supply to frac spreads and any other Wells Operations
- Assisting in identifying routes for water transfer across the Bakken
- Overseeing and assisting in coordination of all pad builds, cellar and conductor activities, pad reclaim and road builds across the Bakken
- Overseeing and assisting in staking of new locations
- Capturing all water volumes used and footage of lines laid on landowners property
- Drafting payment requests for water and ROW usage
- Collaborating with Land in dealing with agreements
- Overseeing the procurement of water transfer and location construction contractors
- Coordinating changes between Houston and field personnel
- Determining infrastructure needs based on future development planning
- Providing QC on pad/road builds, lines laid and transfer of water
- Reviewing documents and coordinating changes of documentation with landowners as well as lawyers and consultants
- Conducting weekly meetings for scheduling and planning
- Reviewing and scheduling upcoming jobs needing water transfer ops and reviewing schedules for any conflicts
- Conducting safety meetings
- Communicating daily with project leads on jobs and safety
- Ensuring that all invoice trackers and line sheets for each job are compiled correctly
- Coordinating with procurement on any price issues
- Continually seeking technology improvements
Basic/Required:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- 5+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- 3+ years of experience in drilling and completions
Preferred:
- 5+ years of experience in water management for drilling and completions
- 3+ years of supervisory experience
- Safety and regulatory training consistent with company standards
- Commitment to protecting the health and safety of everyone involved in ConocoPhillips activities
- Strong leadership and communication skills complimented with openness to new ideas, leading by example, and the ability to receive and give feedback
- Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Familiarity with a network of rig contractors and related service providers
- Strong influencing skills
- Experience working in a multi-national, multi-cultural environment
- Experience in simultaneous operations
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SAP
- Listens actively and invites new ideas for exchanged opinions, then influences and acts to drive positive performance and achieve results
